Those people who have camped in the house of sorrow, they must observe the fast of Kojagiri Pournima so that they can run their life smoothly and can avoid financial problems in life. If you are also organizing this fast in your home, then you must read the Kojagiri Vrat Katha.

• Story of Kojagiri Lakshmi Puja

According to legend, a moneylender had two daughters. Both the daughters used to fast for the full moon, but the elder daughter used to fast completely and the younger daughter used to observe incomplete fast. Due to incomplete fasting, the child of the younger daughter used to die as soon as she was born. When he told his grief to the pandit, he told that due to keeping the fast incomplete, it happens that if you do the complete fast of Purnima properly, your child can survive.

After this she did the full fast of Purnima methodically and by virtue of this she got a child, but he too died after a few days. She made the boy lie on a pedestal and covered the cloth from above and then called the elder sister and brought it home and gave the same generation to sit. When the elder sister started sitting on it, her lehenga touched the child's. The child started crying as soon as he touched the lehenga. Then the elder sister said that you wanted to tarnish me. It would have died if I sat. Then the younger sister said that it was already dead. By your luck it came alive. It has come alive because of your virtue. After that, in the city, he made a ruckus to observe the full full moon fast. Since then this day was celebrated as a festival and Goddess Lakshmi was worshipped.

• Worship Method

On this day the idol of Goddess Lakshmi made of brass, silver, copper or gold is worshiped by covering it with a cloth. After worshiping the goddess in the morning, it is done again at night after moonrise. After 9 o'clock on this day, after making kheer in a silver vessel, it should be kept under the sky as soon as the moon comes out. After this, light a lamp of ghee in front of the goddess at night. After this, the mantra, aarti and duly worship of the goddess should be done. After some time, after offering kheer kept in the light of the moon to Goddess Lakshmi, one should donate it to Brahmins as prasad. Goddess Lakshmi should be worshiped on the next day and the fast should be broken.

• Importance of Kojagari Vrat
