Today, the second day of Shardiya Navratri, is the day of worshiping the Brahmacharini form of Maa Durga. Explain that Brahma means penance. In the scriptures, the meaning of Brahmacharini is said to be the charini of austerity, that is, the one who practices austerity. This form of the Goddess is fully lit and very grand. This goddess holds a rosary of chanting in her right hand and this kamandal is held in her left hand.

It is believed that in the previous birth, this goddess was born in the Himalaya house as a daughter and had done severe penance to get Lord Shankar as her husband by the teachings of Naradji. Due to this difficult penance, she was named as Tapascharini i.e. Brahmacharini. For a thousand years, he spent only eating fruits and flowers and for a hundred years he lived only on the ground and lived on vegetables.
Keep a strict fast for a few days and suffer severe rain and sun under the open sky. For three thousand years, she ate broken bilva leaves and worshiped Lord Shiva. After this, he also stopped eating dried bilva leaves. For several thousand years, she practiced penance by being waterless and starving. She got the name Aparna because of giving up eating the leaves.
Due to severe penance, the body of the goddess became completely emaciated. The deities, sages, siddhas, sages, all described the penance of Brahmacharini as an unprecedented virtuous act, appreciated and said - O Goddess, till date no one has done such harsh penance. It was only possible from you. Your wish will be fulfilled and Lord Chandramauli Shiva will get you in the form of husband. Now leave the penance and return home. Soon your father is coming to call you.
All accomplishments are attained by the grace of Mother Brahmacharini Devi. This form of Goddess is worshiped on the second day of Durga Puja.
