Interesting story, why is the festival of Dhanteras celebrated?

Today is Kartik Krishna Trayodashi Tithi. According to the scriptures, Lord Dhanvantari was born on this day. Hence it is celebrated as the festival of Dhanteras. Dhanvantari had appeared with the nectar urn, so there is a tradition of buying utensils on this day.
But there are many stories related to Dhanteras which shows why Dhanteras is celebrated before Deepawali and what is the importance of Dhanteras in our life.

From these legends, you will also know that why Dhanteras is said to multiply wealth thirteen times.

That's why we celebrate Dhanteras two days before Deepawali.

According to the scriptures, on the day of Dhanteras, Lord Dhanvantari was born by churning the ocean with a golden urn in his hands. Dhanvantari made the deities immortal with the nectar filled in the urn.

Goddess Lakshmi appeared two days after Dhanvantari was born. That is why the festival of Dhanteras is celebrated two days before Deepawali.

According to the scriptures, Lord Dhanvantari is the physician of the gods. Their devotion and worship gives health benefits. It is believed that Lord Dhanvantari is an incarnation of Vishnu.

Lord Vishnu took the incarnation of Dhanvantari only for the expansion and spread of medical science in the world.

When wealth was thirteen times on Dhanteras

Another legend related to Dhanteras is that on the day of Kartik Krishna Trayodashi, Lord Vishnu cut off one eye of Shukracharya, the guru of the Asuras, because of obstructing the work of the deities. According to the legend, Lord Vishnu incarnated as Vamana to free the gods from the fear of King Bali and reached the place of sacrifice of King Bali.

Shukracharya also recognized Lord Vishnu in the form of Vamana and urged King Bali to refuse anything Vamana asked for. Vamana is the real Lord Vishnu. They have come to snatch everything from you to help the gods.

Bali did not listen to Shukracharya. Vamana took a pledge to donate three steps of land, asked by the Lord, by taking water from the kamandal. To stop Bali from donating, Shukracharya entered King Bali's kamandal wearing a miniature form.

This blocked the way for water to flow out of Kamandal. Vamana understood the trick of Lord Shukracharya. Lord Vamana placed the Kusha in his hand in such a way that one eye of Shukracharya burst. Shukracharya came out of the kamandal in a tizzy. Bali took a pledge and donated three steps of land.

After this Lord Vamana measured the entire earth with one foot and space with the other. With no place to take the third step, Bali laid his head at the feet of Lord Vamana. He lost everything in sacrifice. In this way the gods were liberated from the fear of sacrifice and the wealth and wealth that Bali had snatched from the gods got many times more wealth than the gods. The festival of Dhanteras is also celebrated on this occasion.

The legend of Dhanteras, when Maa Lakshmi stayed at the farmer's house.

Apart from Dhanvantari, Goddess Lakshmi and Kuber, the god of wealth, are also worshiped on this day.  Apart from the story of Dhanvantari being born behind celebrating this day, another story is also prevalent about it.

It is said that at one time Lord Vishnu was coming to roam in the world of death, when Lakshmi ji also requested him to accompany him. Then Vishnu ji said that if you believe what I say, then come again. Then Lakshmi ji agreed to him and came to the earth with Lord Vishnu. After some time, after reaching a place, Lord Vishnu told Lakshmi ji that you stay here until I come. I am going towards south, don't you come there. On the departure of Vishnu, the curiosity arose in the mind of Lakshmi that after all what is such a mystery in the south direction which has been forbidden to me and God himself went away.

Lakshmi ji did not stay away and as soon as God moved forward, Lakshmi also followed. After going a little further, he saw a mustard field in which there were many flowers. Seeing the beauty of mustard, she was mesmerized and went ahead after plucking flowers and doing her makeup. On going further, Lakshmi ji plucked sugarcane from a sugarcane field and started sucking the juice.

At that very moment Vishnu ji came and got angry on Lakshmi ji and cursed him that I had forbidden you to come here, but you did not listen and committed the crime of stealing the farmer. Now you serve this farmer for 12 years for this crime. Saying this the Lord left them and went to Kshirsagar. Then Lakshmi ji started living in the house of that poor farmer.

One day Laxmiji told the farmer's wife that after taking a bath, first worship this goddess Lakshmi made by me, then make a kitchen, then you will get what you ask for. The farmer's wife did the same. Due to the effect of worship and the grace of Lakshmi, the farmer's house was filled with food, money, gems, gold etc. from the very second day itself. Lakshmi completed the farmer with money and grains. The farmer's 12 years were spent with great joy. Then after 12 years Lakshmiji agreed to go.

When Vishnu came to pick up Lakshmi, the farmer refused to send him. Then God told the farmer that who lets them go, they are fickle, they do not stay anywhere. Big could not stop them. She was cursed by me, so she was serving you for 12 years. Your 12 years of service have been completed. The farmer stubbornly said that no, now I will not let Lakshmiji go.

Then Laxmiji said that O farmer, you want to stop me, then do what I say. Tomorrow is teres. You clean the house tomorrow by leaps and bounds. Keeping a lamp of ghee lit in the night and worshiping me in the evening and keeping money in a copper urn for me, I will reside in that urn. But I will not be visible to you at the time of worship. I will not leave your house for the whole year by worshiping this one day. Saying this she spread in the ten directions with the light of the lamps. The next day the farmer worshiped as per the legend of Lakshmiji. His house was filled with wealth. For this reason Lakshmiji was worshiped every year on the day of Teras.
